Brief Encounter - London - June, 2018
Still enjoying London Theatre, after a morning at Hillsong Church, we went to see a Matinee performance of "Brief Encounter" held in a cinema. Mixing live theatre with music (the actors playing all the instruments themselves), and with cinema effects too, this was surprisingly good!

Chicago - Singapore - Feb, 2017
Another popular show passed through Singapore, so, of course we had to go!

Come From Away - London - June, 2022
First time seeing 'Come From Away' - a very simple show - but effective, and a unique musical retelling of a moment in History. Not Shanhong's favourite - but I enjoyed it!
-
David Foster - Singapore - Nov, 2012
David Foster came to the Canadian International School in Singapore, where Shanhong works.
Â
Â
For anyone who does not know David Foster, he is most famous for discovering other artists, and writing songs for them.
Check out the names on this collection of David Foster hits!

Dear Evan Hansen - Singapore - Oct, 2024
I didn't have too high an expectation for this one as it was a local theatre group in Singapore. However, I was very pleasantly surprised by a great production and set, and a really good show! This is one to see again in London sometime.
Â
As a local production - there is no official trailer video - so here are a few of the official production images instead.Â

Everybody's talking about Jamie - London - July, 2019
This was a half-price "risk" as we had no idea what to expect. The production itself was mediocre - but some great music - memorable songs - and a good show. This is one where I'd buy the soundtrack, but I'd like to see someone work some magic with the set.

Evita - Singapore - March, 2018
As you know, we rarely miss a show when it comes to Singapore, and certainly not when it is one of the greats! So, we were not to miss to Evita! It lived up to expectation too - great show!
-
Fiddler on the Roof - London - July, 2019
A new production of a very old show, but one Shanhong did not know, so one that was worth seeing. It was actually a really good production with interesting staging/seating. Some great songs too!

Forbidden City - Portrait of an Empress - Singapore - Aug, 2017
I wasn't sure about this one - I'm sorry - this was written and created in Singapore - and I guess I had no idea what to expect - but I have to say I was VERY pleasantly surprised. Great songs, fantastic costumes, and a simple, but highly effective set made this as good as any Broadway or West End show I have ever seen, and would very happily pay to see again. This deserves to make it to the West End - and if it does - I recommend you go to see it!

Frozen - London - June, 2022
Disney can be relied upon to have some great 'tricks' in their productions, as well as songs to remember - this one was no exception! Watched at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in London, in June 2022.
Â
-
Frozen - Singapore - March, 2023
I think I've said before that Disney have great shows. So, it was back to see Frozen for a second time as it passed through Singapore.

Grand Ole Opry - Nashville - June, 2016
First stop on our USA Holiday 2016 was Nashville, home of Country Music (and one of my favourite TV shows)!. Of course, no stay in Nashville is complete without a visit to the Grand Ole Opry House and the show that made Country Music famous!

Grease - Leeds - June, 2019
We saw Grease in Leeds, our first time in the Grand Theatre there. Peter Andre was starring so we hoped for a good production, but to be honest, it was not so special. A decent evening out, but not a show you'd want to go and see again. I've seen some amateur productions which were equally as good.

Greatest Days - Milton Keynes - June, 2023
A 'Take That' musical? Of course it's going to be good! One of those shows where you are having to mime the singalong so as not to annoy the people around you, when you really want to belt them out.
-
Guys & Dolls - London - July, 2024
This was a very different production. Billed as "interactive" the audience was standing, and could move around the set. Different areas would raise from the ground and fall at different times, so you would move to be 'in the action' or observe from a distance as you wished. Nice idea - a new way of doing a show!
Â
-
Hadestown - London - July, 2024
This was a surprise. I enjoyed it, Shanhong did not. Very bluesie 'new orleans' style - and although there was very little in the way of set, the music was good.

-
Hamilton - London - July 2022
Last time we saw Hamilton, we in front row side seats - in one way nice, but in another way, not the best position to see a 'whole picture view'. So this time, we were up in the balcony. Great show - very fresh and different to most musicals.
-
Hamilton - Singapore - April, 2024
Hamilton is a great show, quite different to the norm, both in it's rap-style, and in its single set. We have now seen this show three times, this latest being in Singapore in April 2024.

Heathers - London - June, 2022
First time seeing 'Heathers', and it will be the last. I'm sure it has it's good points, but it was not a show I enjoyed at all.
-
Israel Houghton - Singapore - Feb, 2012
There are some great churches in Singapore who invite some great artists! This was Israel Houghton & New Breed.
