  • Kinky Boots - London - July, 2018

Again, with few choices at the half-price booth - we plumped for "Kinky Boots" with only a very rough idea of the plot - and no idea what to expect. This was a surprise, and in a great way!  What a fantastic show!  The story is fun, the songs are catchy, the cast play their parts so, so well !  We loved it - smiled all night - and have already booked to see it again when it comes through Singapore in November.

  • Kinky Boots - Singapore - Oct, 2018

Our second time seeing this show. We enjoyed the first time so much, we couldn't resist getting tickets as it passed through Singapore, even if it was just a couple of months since our first visit in London. Forgive the photo!

  • La Cage aux Folles - Wolverhampton - June, 2017

Never one to miss the chance of a show - I managed to get a last minute booking for La Cage aux Folles in Wolverhampton on the way back from South Devon! Perhaps not one I'm queuing to see again - but it was fun!

  • Legally Blonde - Singapore - May, 2018

The first time we had ever seen "Legally Blonde" was as it passed through Singapore on an Asian tour, but what a bundle of fun it was!
Perhaps not the greatest musical ever written, but well worth seeing - at least once...  OMG!

  • Lion King Concert - Singapore - June, 2024

I've seen these advertised and have never been, so it was time to give it a try. The movie is played on a large screen, but the soundtrack is played by a live full orchestra and choir. Different!  I enjoyed it, but, not so much that I need to go to this kind of event again! I'll stick to movies in the cinema and musicals in the theatre!

  • Lipstick on your Collar - Oakengates - June 2018

It is extremely rare that we get to go out with members of the family - so when a 50's/60's music show passed through Telford, we persuaded my brother and sister-in-law to join us. It would just happen to turn out to be the same night as a World Cup England game.. poor Stevie! Fun show though - plenty of "singing along" !

  • Little Miss Sunshine - Bradford - June, 2019

Another new show in another new theatre. We went to see Little Miss Sunshine in Bradford. Again, a decent night out as a one-off, but not a show I would need to see again. I wasn't too impressed by the city either... sorry!

  • LKY - Singapore - Sept, 2022

This is very much a local show, telling the story of the Founding leader of an independent Singapore, and the early struggles and successes of forming Singapore. It was done very well though, makes for an interesting mix of entertaining musical, and educational history!

  • Madagascar The Musical - Singapore - Jan, 2024

First time seeing Madagascar, and the last! It's fun, but definitely a kid's show. Still, when these shows pass through Singapore, you just have to go see them, especially if you haven't seen them before!

  • Matilda - London - June, 2018

After School of Rock on the Friday night, Saturday lunch saw us at the matinee for Matilda!  One of Shanhong's favourites from earlier trips to London - but somehow, not so exciting immediately after School of Rock!

  • Matilda - Shanghai - Dec, 2019

Although we've seen this show so many times, how could we possibly not go when it happened to pass through Shanghai while we were there. As always, a great show, and really nice to share it with a special friend.

  • Matilda - Singapore - March, 2024

I think this was our 4th, or possibly even 5th time seeing Matilda - but it is such a good show! How could we resist when it was passing through Singapore?

  • Mean Girls - London - July, 2024

A fun show, but nothing too exciting! Glad to have seen it - probably would not see it again.

  • Michael W Smith - Cruise - July, 2016

2016 saw one of my dreams come true, when I finally got to go on a Michael W Smith cruise! Advertised for a few years now, the dates never matched the school holidays - but this year the dates worked - there was a wedding we hoped to go to - and everything came together to make the cruise a possibility. Held on one of the biggest cruise ships, we sailed in the Caribbean, and had all the normal cruise events with the bonus of additional extra concerts!

These featured Michael W Smith himself (singer/songwriter/worship leader) as well as his friends Mark Lowry (comedian), Laura Story (singer/songwriter) and Pastor Jack (main speaker).

  • Michael W Smith - Singapore - Feb, 2013

I was truly blessed to be able to see my favourite Christian Singer, Michael W Smith, live in Singapore.

Giving a mix of his hits and some great moments of worship, this just made me want to do his Alaskan Cruise even more!

This song, one of my favourites, took me right back to Camp Tecumseh in New Jersey where this was the closing song of camp!

  • Michael W Smith and Friends - Cruise - July, 2016

By request, some video clips from the ship.

Michael W Smith - singing with the ship's choir (passengers!)

Mark Lowrie (sorry video cuts out mid-song! Mark wrote this song; there is an interesting version at www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaRpeMT1tjQ )

  • Miss Saigon - Singapore - Aug, 2024

Miss Saigon remains my favourite of all musicals. So, how could we possibly resist returning when it passed through Singapore. To be honest, I have forgotten how many times I have seen this show - but it never disappoints.

  • Motown the Musical - London - July, 2018

There are very few matinees at a good price - so, with limited choice, and a friend of Shanhong's joining us - we plumped for Motown - the Musical. It tells the tale - and has some good musical numbers - but was nothing special....

  • Mrs Doubtfire - London - July, 2024

Obviously a great movie - but would it how translate to the stage?
The answer is, very well! It's a fun show, but it is very reliant on its star character.

  • Newsies - London - July, 2023

This is a Disney production - so of course, it will be well done. However, staging in the Troubadour theatre made it fantastic. This is a "warehouse" theatre, where the actors are on many levels, around and between the audience, so everything is much closer and interactive. A great show, in a great theatre.
